BEDFORDSHIRE TOP TEN STATISTICS

2006

Firstly I would like to thank Courtney Gunn, Jenny O’Shea, Gerry Gough, Les Oliver and Dean Bennett from the respective clubs at, Bedford & County, Luton AC, and Leighton Buzzard AC for all their efforts and support in providing me with the vast majority of the results which have helped me to compile the 2006 Statistics for the track and field season. I have also added results that I have seen from the Athletics Weekly and various league and results websites. This is my third year that I have put together these figures and I have found it very rewarding and informative.

Studying these statistics makes me realise that there is a lot of talent within our very small county with vast improvements from individuals being noted year on year. Looking at the results from 2005 and comparing them to this year, shows that the talent within Bedfordshire is very good and in most cases the results are vastly improved overall from 2005. I am reliant on information from the clubs that all athletes are Bedfordshire athletes, I am sure I have listed some that are not, but where known I have put the county of these athletes in brackets to aid where possible county selection.

I have listed some results I have received from the respective district and County Schools Championships, and national championships including schools’ championships and where possible made the connection with some names to the Club structure, those that are not known are left as the school they attend.

As you know the object of producing these statistics is to help county team managers select teams for various inter county team competitions and the final rankings at the end of the season are merely a by product of the process.

I hope you will find the following rankings interesting reading and I am sure you will make the information available to your club members. Unlike various data results bodies I cannot publish amendments if someone feels that their performances should have been in the rankings but if anyone wants to e-mail me at david.brown@lionbridge.com. Any amendments are more than welcome and I will adjust my master copy accordingly.

Finally, please let your clubs know that I will be compiling the 2007 Statistics for track and field and indoor performances, so anyone can supply me with performances throughout the season making sure that they give the following information:

Name of athlete, age group, event, performance and venue.
